Large Pile Burns
Piles greater than 8 feet in diameter require a burn authorization from the Florida Forest Service. You are also required to have suppression equipment on hand. Contact our local forestry office District 8 - Waccasassa Forestry Center at (352) 395-4951 or visit Burn Authorizations - Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (fdacs.gov) for setback requirements.
You do not need a burn authorization if you meet the requirements below.

It is illegal to burn household garbage including paper products, treated lumber, plastics, rubber materials, tires, pesticide, paint and aerosol containers.
You must receive prior authorization to burn anything regardless of the size of the fire and what you are burning. The procedure is for the person requesting the burn to fill out the permit located below.
